I didn’t know what to expect when I went to a prison for women in Los Angeles. How would I relate to them? As it turned out we had quite a bit in common—our being able to share music. I wanted to please them. When they saw that, they really opened up. It’s a beautiful experience to bring music to those who might otherwise not be able to hear it. It brings joy to their lives and is extremely rewarding for the soul of the artist.
