Pianist Leah Claiborne was chosen for a 2020 Father Eugène Merlet Community Service Award by the jury at auditions chaired by Gil Kalish at Yamaha Piano Salon in New York City.
The award will assist in supporting her “Community Piano Program” providing youth (ages 5-18) free piano lessons at the University of the District of Columbia and information about the contributions Black composers have made to classical music.
